Too stupid for kids?

If you knew the type of work I am in, you would know that I get to deal with all types of parents.

I talk to the overprotective ones ("There are kids kissing in the halls at my daughters school...."), the ones that don't give a rip (love that southern term, dontcha?) and the ones that truly care, but know that there are rules and guidelines that my department must follow (read: you can't always get your way. THE END). Today, I talked to the "don't give a rip" one. This lady has kept her child out of school for 4 weeks because she doesn't have any child care after school! WHAT? I explained to her that she could submit her app. for another school, but that the child needs to be in school. I also explained to her the state compulsory attendance law (children between the ages of 6 and 16 have to be in school) and that DFACS could be called. She said, "We are in the lobby. Do you want to send someone for her now?"

I said ALL of that, to ask - Can there be a test for people to become parents? I mean, some people can't even take care of themselves much less have kids to take care of. Maybe they should have to take care of an egg before they can have kids. No, it's not logical, but it helps me to destress to think about crazy stuff like that.

I also think that parents should think carefully about what they name their child. I could blog every day about all of the names I have seen. No, not Lemonjello and Orangejello. I could blog about real life names that belong to real live kids. These kids are not going to be the President of the United States or even in management with the names I have seen. Tell me... should you name your child, Jihad? Jihad means "holy war". Can you imagine your doctor coming into the room and introducing himself as "Dr. Jihad"?

Oh! I totally learned something from Yo Gabba Gabba tonight. Have yall ever heard of a Theremin? It's an instrument created back in 1919. A guy on there played it and of course , I had to YouTube it.

hahaha the theremin is so cool!!!! LOL it's kind of an inside joke with my Canticle buddies -- we tease one of our members that he's a virtuoso theremin player and has brought healing music to many people (but actually we've never seen one except on youtube) lol
